Build your label draft
Use the wording from your recipe and supplier packaging. This tool formats what you enter; it does not identify allergens, check recipes or certify compliance.
From recipe to printed label in three steps
- Build your ingredient library. Save each supplier ingredient once, with its allergens checked from the packaging.
- Build and duplicate recipes. Pick ingredients in weight order, then copy a base bake for the raspberry, chocolate or seasonal version instead of starting again.
- Print. Select products, choose your thermal roll or Avery sheet, then print at 100%. Change a supplier next month? Edit one ingredient — every affected label updates.
The same ingredient data also powers your allergen matrix — one source of truth, no stale spreadsheets when the EHO visits.
Honest comparisons
vs. handwriting labels
Legal if legible — but slow, smudge-prone, and one recipe tweak means rewriting the batch. Fine for two products; painful for twelve.
vs. enterprise software
Nutritics, Erudus and friends are excellent for chains — with pricing and onboarding to match. AllergenKit is self-serve and £9/month because a bakery isn't a hospital group.
vs. label-company apps
Some free label tools lock you into one company's stock. AllergenKit supports common thermal sizes, custom rectangular rolls and standard Avery-compatible sheets.
Common questions
What does a UK food label legally need to show?
For PPDS food: the name of the food and a full ingredients list in descending weight order, with regulated allergens emphasised each time they appear. Wider food-labelling rules can require other particulars depending on the product. See our PPDS labelling guide and the official guidance linked above.
Do I need a special label printer?
No. Use an installed thermal printer with matching roll stock, or an inkjet or laser printer with Avery-compatible L7165 or L7163 A4 sheets.
Does it work for home baking businesses?
Yes — recurring boxed cakes and bakes are the workflow AllergenKit is designed around first. A food is PPDS only when it meets the rules for where, when and how it is packed and sold, so check the current guidance rather than assuming every boxed bake needs the same label. New to selling from home? Start with our home food business rules guide.
Who's responsible for the label being right?
You are — AllergenKit formats the data you supply into a label layout, but the ingredient facts and final check must come from your recipes, supplier labels and current official guidance. We never guess allergens for you.
